About Alan Forshee Photography
Hello, I am Alan Forshee and welcome to my website. I grew up on St. Louis and spent time in California and around the world with the United States Navy. I really enjoy photography and getting to witness as well as capture nature in its finest representation. Just being out there early in the morning or late in the day is beyond wonderful. Seeing the sun rise in all its brilliance bringing life to a new day and seeing it go down in all its glory signifying the end of the day provide me experiences I will never forget. The vision of nature, the smells, the sights and the sounds are like music to the ears.
I like to perform many genres of photography, but I love nature and landscape the most. If I have a nature specialty and love it is photographing and learning about Bald Eagles. I photograph them all year in Missouri as there are many that live here year round. I will also perform portraiture, especially environmental portraiture where I can draw upon my landscape skills. I like the lighting methods used by Chris Knight and Felix Kunze for that type of work.
I started photography in the early 1980s with the Minolta X700 camera, which at the time was a very fine product and the first to incorporate TTL flash functionality. I have used other camera systems from Olympus, Canon and Sony as well. In 2014 I finally settled on Nikon and have been using Nikon ever since. Nikon is consistent, stable, exceptionally functional and I feel at home with it. That is not to say it produces a better image than any other platform. All it takes is a look at images made by my friends to show that any of the major platforms produce very fine images.
Again, welcome to my website and I hope you enjoy what you see. Please provide feedback as I truly value it.
Thank you!
Alan Forshee
